Animal Art - Dark Series

I love to work on dark coloured paper, often combining it with my fascination with the moon. These drawings are sometimes inspired by the fantastical tales found in Welsh mythology, where animals often play a key part of the stories. They also mean I can experiment with limited palettes in order to emphasise the drama of the image.

Queen of the Night

This drawing is inspired the tale of Blodeuwedd, who was a women made out out flowers by a wizard for a man who couldn't marry a human. But when she was unfaithful to her husband, the wizard turned her into an owl so she could never see daylight again!

Timeless Soul

This drawing shows one of the wolves that live at Bear Woods, part of Bristol Zoo Project. The artwork is one of a series of limited palette pieces, this time using purple with black and white. Memories of Bran

This is a limited palette artwork, using just five coloured pencils and one PanPastel. It shows a Raven and the Moon, and is loosely inspired by the Welsh legend about Bran the Blessed. It's drawn in blue, black and white on black Colourfix Smooth paper. This artwork in now SOLD

Midnight Swim
